The Norfolk Court Service Unit is a state operated court service unit that exclusively serves the City of Norfolk. Providing a broad range of services and programs to the Norfolk Juvenile Court and to the citizens of Norfolk, the CSU addresses the diverse needs of juveniles and families that come before the court. The CSU provides services as mandated by the Code of Virginia to include: Intake Screening and processing of Domestic Relations and Delinquency complaints; Diversion for low risk offenders, Assessment and Investigatory Reports for the Court; Supervised Probation; Direct Care monitoring for committed youth; and Parole Supervision. Working collaboratively with public and private agencies, the unit offers an expanded array of community resources to at-risk youth and their families. These services, programs, and resources assist with: reducing the community safety risks posed by juvenile offenders; holding offenders accountable for their actions; ensuring that offenders repair the harm done to victims and the community; and permitting youth and families the opportunity to develop and enhance critical competencies necessary to sustain healthy and productive life styles.
