The 27th District Court Service Unit provides domestic and delinquent intake services, juvenile probation and parole services to the cities of Radford and Galax, and the counties of Carroll, Grayson, Wythe, Bland, Giles, Pulaski, Montgomery and Floyd.
We partner with seven programs to provide detention alternatives and diversion services to youth across the district. We work with the Regional Service Coordinator and our local Children's Services Act (CSA) programs to make sure our youth and families have access to a wide array of community-based services, including assessments and evaluations, individual and group-based clinical services, family-focused interventions (including Functional Family Therapy), individual and group-based cognitive skills training, residential services and monitoring services (surveillance, electronic monitoring, GPS). CSU 27 also partners with the C.E. Richardson Benevolence Fund to provide incentives for deserving youth.
We welcome and appreciate the support of interns and volunteers to better develop a qualified workforce and strengthen service delivery options to the citizens we serve.
For youth on probation and parole, court service unit staff have access to a variety of contracted services including assessments and evaluations, individual therapy, family therapy, substance abuse treatment, therapy for youth with sexualized behaviors, and life skills coaching. CSUs access these services through DJJ's contracted regional service coordinators. A directory of services available through DJJ's RSC Model is available at Evidence-Based Associates.
